USAR Team Shooter Assigned as New USARC G7 Sergeant Major

Good news from MAJ Dave Cloft, XO, USAR Service Rifle Team

USAR Team Shooter SGM Michael Carlin has been assigned as the US Army Reserve Command G7 Sergeant Major.  I am elated to hear of his assignment to this distinguished position, this gives me renewed faith in our assignment process. SGM Carlin is an absolute professional and will serve the Army Reserve well in all his new duties.  As you probably already know our competitive shooting program belongs to the USARC G7.

As you may or may not know, SGM Carlin passed away two days ago. He was a great soldier, a dear friend, infantryman, and perhaps the best machine gunner I ever saw. See you at Fiddler’s Green Pard…

  2. MSG Frederick A. Morgan says:

I spent 4yrs at Ft. McCoy NCOA with SGM Carlin. I was sad to here of your passing Mike.

  3. Mary Carlin Ramlet says:

I spent the first 18 years of my life with my older brother Mike. Can you help me find out more his life since 1980. I am his sister. His passing has been very devastating to me. It was so unexpected.

I know he was a very good marksman, genius smart, kind of heart, and he loved to share information as he was practically a walking dictionary and in some ways a savant; but, what else can you share that you know about him.

His death makes no sense to me.
