Members of the Army Reserve Marksmanship Team represented the Army Reserve at the Armed Forces Skill at Arms Meeting, an International shooting competition, held 22 April-2 May at Camp Robinson, Arkansas.
The Army Reserve had two teams: USAR Blue, consisting of Command Sgt. Major Steven Slee, First Sgt. John Robertson, Master Sgt. Russell Moore and Master Sgt. Lance Espinosa; and USAR Black with Cpt. Samuel Freeman, Sgt. 1st Class Jerry Mullen, Staff Sgt. Jason Godel, and Sgt. Benjamin Mercer.
Master Sgt. Russell Moore is a multiple All Army Champion and top-level International Combat shooter. “AFSAM is a great combat match,” Moore said. “We typically have at least a half dozen NATO countries represented each year.”
USAR Blue won the Combined Arms Enemy Barricade Match, Bianchi Battle, Gen. George Patton Match, Steel Challenge, Anti-Body Armor Match, and the Commander In Chief’s Pistol Team Match. USAR Black took second in the Bianchi Battle and Steel Challenge.
Individually, team shooter Cpt. Samuel Freeman won the Anti-Body Armor Match, Master Sgt. Russell Moore was second overall in the pistol aggregate and third overall in the combined aggregate.
